تتناول هذه الدراسة مظاهر التطور الحضاري في إقليم اليمامة خلال العصر الأموي (41–132هـ / 661–750م)، وذلك من خلال تتبّع أبرز التحولات التي شهدها الإقليم على المستويات السياسية، والإدارية، والاقتصادية، والاجتماعية، والثقافية، والعمرانية، في ضوء ما امتاز به من موقع جغرافي استراتيجي جعله مركزًا للتفاعل بين أقاليم الجزيرة العربية ومحيطها الأوسع.
تهدف الدراسة إلى تسليط الضوء على المكانة الحضارية التي تميّز بها إقليم اليمامة في هذه الفترة، من خلال تحليل العوامل التي أسهمت في نشأتها وتطورها، ورصد معالم الحياة بمختلف جوانبها بما يُسهم في معالجة جوانب الإغفال في الدراسات السابقة التي ركزت في معظمها على الجوانب السياسية والعسكرية، دون التعمق في الأبعاد الحضارية.
توصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج، من أبرزها: أن سياسات الدولة الأموية في مجالي الإدارة والتنمية تركت آثارًا واضحة في الإقليم، وأن المجتمع المحلي تفاعل إيجابيًا مع تلك السياسات، مما أسهم في ترسيخ هوية حضارية متكاملة، وجعل من اليمامة إحدى روافد التمدّن المؤثرة في البناء الحضاري للدولة الأموية.
This study explores the manifestations of civilizational development in the region of al-Yamama during the Umayyad period (41–132 AH / 661–750 CE), by tracing the major transformations that occurred in the region across the political, administrative, economic, social, cultural, and architectural spheres. It does so in light of al-Yamama’s strategic geographic location, which made it a key center of interaction among the regions of the Arabian Peninsula and its broader surroundings.
The study aims to shed light on the civilizational significance that distinguished the region of al-Yamama during the Umayyad era, by analyzing the factors that contributed to the emergence and development of its features and examining the various dimensions of life therein. This contributes to addressing the gap resulting from the neglect of these aspects in previous studies, which primarily focused on political and military issues without delving into the broader civilizational dimensions.
The research concludes with several key findings, most notably: that the Umayyad state’s administrative and developmental policies had a significant impact on the region, and that the local society responded positively to these policies. This contributed to the formation of a cohesive civilizational identity and positioned al-Yamama as one of the influential centers of urban development within the broader Umayyad state.
